Faith is Built in the Waiting

Updated: 3 days ago

So many people settle for the counterfeit that the enemy consistently parks in front of them (and that they always seem to have 24/7 access to), rather than wait for the fullness of the blessing that the Lord has for them. As Dan Mohler puts it, they “sell cheap”. We see this all around us in the world AND in the church.

Accepting the counterfeit is a form of rebellion and idolatry. It is the same as saying, “God, you don’t know what you are doing, but I know. I know better than you.”

The devil and his forces are ALWAYS the purveyor of the counterfeit. This is part of the father of lies stealing and destroying. What does he care? When you step into sin, you become a tool of destruction in his hands.

The counterfeit always leads to heartache. More so, it always leads to enslavement, and often destruction. We see this all of the time.

We are not immune to this. We are not better than others. But we are seeking deeply to never accept the counterfeit. I feel lead to use this message to encourage you to never accept the counterfeit again either.

Ask the Lord what counterfeit, if any, is at work in your life… but ONLY if you count the cost first and are willing to give it up - whatever the counterfeit is.

Let me address the question of, “Why does God make us wait?”

ree

In this world, faith is built in the waiting, and faith is the foundation of everything in His Kingdom while on this Earth. That is why the end of Romans 14 says that anything not done in faith is sin. Then, transformation by the renewing of your mind can be accomplished in the waiting in faith. Many prayers are answered in (and through) the waiting in faith. Character is fashioned in the waiting in faith, as Romans 5 tells us.

That last one is really important. Without the character built during the waiting, the blessings that result through faith, would actually become a curse. Because without proven character, the enemy can tempt you into using your blessings to actually do harm; becoming a tool of the enemy to drive you and others into sin and bring destruction to yourself and others. Don’t believe me?

A car is very expensive. We can often take them for granted, until you spend a few days (or hours) without one. A car is a HUGE blessing. But, without the character to properly drive one safely, you would become a danger to everyone around you. The secular government understands this concept. That is why they test you to confirm that you know the basics of operating a car safely. They then give you a license (i.e. revocable permission), that they can and will revoke if you do something to prove to society that you do not have the character to handle a vehicle.

This message brought to you from someone in the waiting (in fact for many years in the waiting), not from someone in the fullness of all promised blessings. So, join me in the waiting.

Last thought… sometimes the waiting isn’t about you, or at least you alone. Sometimes, your calling that day is to minister to those among you in the group waiting, who are not as far down the “waiting” trail as you are. But again, this all requires the faith that can only come in the waiting.
